However, if enough electrodes are placed in these headphones that the researchers are working on, brain signals can be read in a much easier form. Although this may seem like something that is not possible by many at first, the studies have managed to impress scientists with surprisingly successful results. “One of the worst sensors in the world is the EEG sensor,” said John Stivoric, a senior executive at Google’s parent company Alphabet. Environmental noise, surface noise, body movements and precedent are affected by many factors. Stivoric admitted that he thought a pair of headphones wouldn’t work, “It works. NextSense’s medical manager, Jen Dwyer, explained that sleep attacks that patients will experience can be detected with the help of headphones beforehand, and EEG signals are received very effectively with the help of headphones. According to Wired’s report, the company wants to bring the headphones to FDA approval this year and put them on the market as soon as possible. The headset, which NextSense has been working on for many years, is seen as a big step to prevent not only seizures during sleep, but also other possible problems.
